John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only son.

For
God so loved the world He gave.

God so loved the world He forgave.

How does He forgive - through the sacrifice of Jesus.

He gave His only Son that whoever (includes everybody) believes should not perish but have EVERLASTING LIFE.

Find these words in the Catholic devotion and repeat them until you understand them.

The word 'give' is part of the word 'forgiveness' because it must always be a free gift and not something we can earn. This means that God will freely forgive because the price has been paid by Another (Jesus Christ).

Forgiveness of sins is a free gift to those who trust Jesus entirely for salvation.

Prayer

Father it is so wonderful that I can call you my Father.

I thank you that although you are in heaven where only holiness can exist, you have made it possible for me to also be in heaven one day with you.

Thank you that forgiveness is a free gift, and the price for my sin was paid by Jesus on the cross over 2000 years ago.

Come into my heart and life and be Lord of my life. In Jesus name.

Amen.
